George Romero’s much anticipated new Zombie movie Survival of the Dead (formally called “…of the Dead”) is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival  in September, but in the meantime you can see some stills here. And you can see the trailer here.

If you are college student, or a fan of the Stephen Colbert Report, then you are probably already well aware of the game that is sweeping campuses across the country: Human vs Zombie. Start a game at your school. It may not be enough to prepare you for the real zombie apocalypse, but it is a lot of fun.

In Case if Zombies offers an arsenal of zombie fighting weapons behind glass (like those “in case of fire, break glass” alarms) that you access by tapping to “break” the glass. Think of it as a Swiss army knife for killing zombies. Compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch.

Diablo Cody (who wrote the Juno screenplay) is now working on an adaptation of Breathers: A Zombies Lament, a romantic comedy about zombies. But this time she is in the role of producer. The movie is expected to be released in 2010. Read more about it here.

I am a huge fan of old zombie movies. You know, the ones that are unintentionally funny and all the zombies look like they have ping pong balls for eyes? So I am intrigued to learn that RKO Pictures is teaming up with Twisted Pictures to remake the 1943 classic I Walked with a Zombie. I am not sure how well the original will translate into a modern horror film, but I can’t wait to find out.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought it would be a good time to mention Zombie Harmony, a dating web site for zombies with the tag line, “because the apocalypse doesn’t have to be lonely.”

Sadly, the site is just a clever marketing scheme by Mingle2, a real online dating site for living humans. So my dream of finding a zombie boyfriend will remain (for now) unfulfilled.
